Updates on the Mosaic Tile Tear Down
ZANESVILLE, OH – The tear down of the Mosaic Tile in Zanesville continues.
The process of tearing down the Mosaic Tile facility started in late November with asbestos remediation, tearing out old pipe wrap and other materials containing asbestos. The materials have been transported to a hazmat landfill. As for the remaining bricks and timber, these materials will be reused and recycled.
Land Bank executive director Andy Roberts explains what people can expect to see:
“They’re going to continue their demolition activities. Once they get that complete, we have some subsurface remediation that we need to do. There’s some lead and some old drains down in there that we need to bring up.” Land Bank executive director, Andy Roberts stated.
The Mosaic Tile tear down is on track to be completed by June of 2023.
“So far, everything’s going great. We just paid our first bill on this. Submitted the request to the state for reimbursement, just got approval on that yesterday afternoon, so we’re hoping to see that check come back.” Roberts said.
There are future plans for the property in process, but that information has not yet been released.
