BUCKEYE LAKE, OH – Buckeye Lake’s largest party is back for 2023.

The eighth annual Buckeye Lake Region Chamber of Commerce Winterfest is starting bright and early tomorrow morning. Starting at 6:30am, there will be music, dancing, activities, fireworks, and more fun for all who attend. Benny the Bass will be back to make his annual spring prediction.

“We have an actual live bass in a large tank on display and we put minnows in the tank. The chant is ‘Take the bait, spring can’t wait.’ because if Benny the Bass eats the minnow, it’s an early spring. If not, then six more weeks of winter and we have a fish fry.” Buckeye Lake Region Chamber of Commerce Winterfest Chairman, Mike Fornataro said.

Fireworks will be set off over the lake at dawn on Sunday after the prognostication of Benny the Bass. Over 50 venues around the Buckeye Lake region will be having specials. There will be live bands playing and many activities throughout the weekend. On Sunday, there will be a polar plunge at the Buckeye Lake winery. Our sports anchor Chris Towle will be participating in the Plunge to support a nonprofit organization.

“One thing Buckeye Lake knows how to do is throw a party. This is literally the biggest party of the year. This is our Groundhogs Day. I’ve been to Punxsutawney, there’s no reason to go there but there’s every reason to come to Buckeye Lake.” Fornataro stated.
