Downtown Exchange Needs New Hires

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The City of Zanesville has been working to revitalize its downtown by establishing all sorts of opportunities that encourage people to visit for a broad array of reasons.
One such project is an indoor food court and meeting space called the Downtown Exchange and Co-Owner and Brian Diamond spoke about the efforts put into revamping the old building and coordinating vendors to fill it.
“The Downtown Exchange project started a year ago, April 1,” Diamond said. “We took an old antique mall, which was Old Town Antiques previously and have completely gutted the building and then put it back together into a multi-tenant food hall. We currently have nine food vendors plus the bar in the back. Judd and Cara Dodson that are partners in the project, are also our very first tenant and they will own slash operate the Lucky Jupiter Bar here as well.”
The building’s renovation is nearly complete and expects to be running by mid May. It will be home to vendors that are operating successful establishments in other locations and have signed an agreement that 90 percent of their menu items will differ from all the other vendors to offer a wide variety of foods and drinks. The ground floor of the Downtown Exchange will offer casual dining with the upper floors offering meeting spaces for businesses and organizations.
“So we operate the building, the Downtown Exchange itself. We’ll have staffing for that,” Diamond said. “And then every vendor operates their space independently and need employees for food serving. And really just a lot of cook and food serving positions here and then staffing with the bar as well. We encourage people to come in, meet the different vendors, fill out an application. Again we’ve got 9-to-10 vendors, actually 10-to-11 vendors that will be hiring downtown.”
The Downtown Exchange and its vendors will be holding a live, onsite hiring event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. until Noon.
