ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Commissioners held a meeting regarding blighted property.

The county commissioners visited some blighted property sights in Muskingum County. These properties are a concern of the commissioners, townships, and villages. The meeting held on April 27th was to discuss and put a process together to get some of these properties condemned and demolished.

“For the safety and wellbeing of the neighbors, the people that live close by. We’ve all said we would not want to be next to a house like this. And there’s different conditions, different issues, but we thought it’s right to do for these, for the neighbors, for the community.” County Commissioner, Cindy Cameron said.

County Commissioner, Cindy Cameron explained that they are willing to help the villages and townships pay to get the blighted properties cleaned up for the safety of the community.

“With the community bringing these to our attention, and we’ve been out to visit them, our goal is to be able to start helping them, get them cleaned up, realizing the villages and townships may not have the means, the money to do this themselves.” Cameron said.

As the next steps, the commissioners plan on talking to the townships and getting a resolution written to start the process of cleaning up the properties.
