Applications Open for College Scholarships

The Muskingum County Community Foundation wants students to know it’s not too late to apply for a special scholarship.

To apply for the Miss Olga and Miss Olaf Hanson Scholarship students must have completed their sophomore year of college and be actively pursuing a career in education. The scholarship is available to students in all levels of study.

"It’s for students that are majoring in education," said Director of College Access Programs at Scholarship Central. It could be any type whether it be undergraduate, masters or doctorate, it does not require you to be pursuing your undergraduate you could be getting masters in education or your undergraduate in education. "

Interested candidates must possess a 2.5 GPA , two letters of recommendations and write a 250 word essay explaining why they want to become an educator.

"You want to have someone who wants to make an impact on the children’s lives," said Sands. The ideal candidate would be someone who is in the education field of course, but someone when they write their essay with the topic of why he or she is going into the field of education, make sure you say exactly why. "

There will be two $450 scholarships awarded. To fill out an application students can apply online or send applications to 534 Putnam Avenue. All applications must be postmarked by Thursday, October 31st.
