Student Suspended For Pot At ZHS

We have a follow-up report to this week’s drug sweep at Zanesville high school and middle school.  Coordinator of Operations Kevin Appleman says the schools reported no drugs, but Thursday Whiz News has learned that marijuana was found in a student’s vehicle.  Appleman says a small amount of pot was found and the student’s parents were contacted to come to the school to discuss the situation.  Appleman says the student was suspended for 10 days, but it was reduced to 5 days because the student and parents agreed to 10 hours of counseling.  On Wednesday officers from the Zanesville Police Department and deputies from the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office – along with drug sniffing dogs – checked inside both schools for drugs and found nothing.
