Rollover Accident On I-70
The accident happened at 11:20 a.m. near the Airport Rd./Sonora Rd. exit. State Highway Patrol Sgt. Chuck Merryman says it’s unclear why the vehicle veered off the side of the road.
"At this point what we know is that we have a full size van that was heading eastbound on 70 with three occupants," explained Sgt. Merryman. "For an unknown reason at this point, the van just drifted off the right side of the roadway, struck the overpass at Sonora Road, deflected off the overpass and into the grassy area here and flipped onto its side."
New Concord and Perry Township Fire Departments were on scene and extracted one of the occupants from the vehicle. John Kennedy, 60, of Bloomfield, Ohio was transported to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital with unspecified injuries.
"The other two were males in their 20s. They’re not claiming any injuries, they didn’t want to be transported to the hospital."
The accident remains under investigation.
