Free Coffee for Veterans

A local woman is showing veterans her appreciation for their service in a special way.

Teresa Arnold, owner of Bucket’s Bar says that after brainstorming different ways to help veterans in our area , she decided to provide them with free coffee seven days a week. She hopes this will give the veterans a safe place to share their thoughts.

"I hope it makes them feel appreciated I know that they probably meet places and talk and I don’t know that they get free coffee or free anything so we want to do that for them," said Arnold.

Starting Tuesday veterans can visit the bar on Sharon Avenue anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to receive their bottomless cup of coffee. Vietnam veteran, John Davis will serve the free coffee to his fellow brothers. Davis says that he is glad to see someone stepping up to recognize the nation’s protectors.

"I think people are trying harder to help the veterans, but you know its been a struggle I know they didn’t help the Vietnam veterans at all but I think it’s coming back. I think people are starting to realize freedom don’t come free, " said Davis.

Arnold says eventually she would like to work with other local businesses to provide food for the veterans as well, but this is a start.
