Rebecca “Becky” M. Sorg, 72, of Marysville, formerly of Mount Perry, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born Monday, May 28, 1951, in Zanesville, the daughter of Charles E. Lynn and Mary Virginia (Speed) Lynn. She married Richard E. “Dick” Sorg on Saturday, October 20, 1973, and was an active parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she sang in the choir.

Becky was a graduate of Bishop Rosecrans High School, and was class valedictorian. She received her Nursing Degree from Zane State College and served as an RN with Mount Carmel East for many years. Becky was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and an endless supporter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Becky was very involved in her grandson’s lives, supporting them in sports, scouts, 4-H, and Discovery Riders.

Becky is survived by her son, Jonathan (Dr. Laura) Sorg of Marysville; two grandsons: Andrew Earl Sorg and Jacob Nicholas Sorg; three sisters, Debbie (Steve) Awalt of Zanesville, Cindy (Ed) Heil of Adamsville and Theresa (Dave) Brown of Fredericktown; three brothers, Bill Lynn of Nashport, Dave (Linda) Lynn of Zanesville and Rick (Wanda) Lynn of Sunbury; four sisters-in-law, Delores (Jerry) Gibson of Rushville, Sandy (Dan) Backus, Becky (Rod) Smith, and Michelle (Todd) Rock all of Zanesville, and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dick Sorg; two brothers-in-law: Terry Cooperider and Frank Rubeck both of Newark, two sisters-in-law: Shirley Cooperider and Patty Rubeck both of Newark, and one nephew: Jason Lynn of Dresden.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Friday, October 27, 2023, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. Stephen Ondrey as celebrant. Becky will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Zanesville Memorial Park.
