ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Memorial Concert Band is set to hold their final concert of the summer.

This will be their fifth and final summer performance in 2016 and will take place this upcoming Sunday. Like all of their summer performances it is free to the public. Band President Chad Stemm said this one will be a memorable one.

“It’s a special concert,” said Stemm. “We have an Ohio guest composer by the name of Lisa Galvin and she’ll be directing a couple of her pieces towards the end of the concert. Lisa is very special to Ohio. She was a member of the Ohio State University marching band years ago. She was a music teacher. She was an associate director of the Ohio State University marching band last year. She’s now one of their staff arrangers.”

Stemm said due to expected high temperatures they will be holding the concert at Secrest Auditorium as opposed to Zane’s Landing Park. Stemm said he’s very pleased with how this year turned out.

“This was a fantastic season. We had our July 3 concert at Secrest, as usual, and we had over a thousand people there. This concert season has been slam bang till the end,” said Stemm.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. this Sunday.
