ZANESVILLE, OH- The Christmas season has officially begun with the largest shopping holiday of the year.

Shoppers from all over the area gathered together at the Colony Square Mall to check out the latest deals, discounts and giveaways.

Cameron Little, a Black Friday shopper with a child, says “This is our favorite day of the year, why are you here Samuel?” Samuel Shegog, the child with Cameron, responds by saying, “Because I get Pokémon.”

Among the stores that are regularly featured at the Colony Square Mall, there are also 70 arts and crafts vendors set up for the weekend with lots of unique items for the whole family to enjoy. Starting at 11 a.m. Santa and his elves also made an appearance, with kids being able to sign-up to take pictures with them.

“Well, we are the Merry Misfits, and we come to lots of places from the North Pole to visit, play some games, make some merriment, and check to make sure that everyone is being nice, we can talk to you all on our website, MerryMisfits.org, where you can write us letters see where we are going to be at, see pictures and even get some questions answered about Santa Claus, it’s wonderful,” says Santa’s Elves.

The next major shopping holiday of the season will take place tomorrow, on Small Business Saturday, a day in which shoppers are encouraged to shop at their local small businesses.
