Robert Boyd

Robert Boyd, aged 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 27, 2023.
He was born August 26, 1935 in Newaygo, Michigan – he was the fourth of ten children. Robert attended Michigan Tech University where he was a member of ROTC and obtained a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. After graduation, he served four years in the Army Corp of Engineers. During that time, he met his future wife.
Robert began working for the Federal Highway Administration, where he worked all over the country for thirty-five years. One of his career highpoints was being in charge of and organizing the snow removal needed for President John F. Kennedy’s inauguration.
Some of the things he enjoyed were attending Toastmasters, carpentry, bowling, and taking people on his pontoon boat. He was a member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors and a member of the Optimist International Group.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gertrude; his daughter, Jennifer; his parents, Dallas and Ella Boyd; and his siblings, Imogene (Marlon) Stroven, Gordon (Pat), Max (Juanita), and Ed (Rosemary).
Robert is survived by his daughter, Laurie (Michael) Upton; his two grandsons, Andrew Upton and William Upton; his siblings, Pat (Mike) Bennett, Perry (Mary), Don (Peggy), and Peggy (Ralph) Frick; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday (December 1, 2023) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.
Burial will be at Senecaville Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
