OSHP Investigates Fatal Head-on Crash on U.S. 22

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio–The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle accident that claimed the life of a New Concord resident.

It happened around 6:45 a.m. Friday on U.S. 22 near N. Moose Eye Road in Union Township in Muskingum County.

Authorities said a Nissan Maxima driven by 37-year-old Cory Cox was travelling west on U.S. 22 when he went left of center and collided head on with a vehicle travelling east on U.S. 22.

The patrol said  Cox died from the injuries he sustained in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle 33-year-old Brittany D. Yerkey of Norwich sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

Authorities said both drivers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
