DUNCAN FALLS, Ohio – The Muskingum County Library System schedules events year-round at all of its branches that promote literacy and creativity.

Duncan Falls/Philo Branch Customer Services Specialist Scott Glover announced a holiday themed event that blends a taste of tradition with a little innovation and imagination.

“It is this Thursday, December 21st, from 4-to-5 p.m. is our Christmas/holiday open house. We are going to have gingerbread decorating for the kids. We are going to have Santa and Mrs. Claus here delivering some free gifts for everyone that shows up. We’re going to have Christmas cookies and hot chocolate, live music and lots of fun. So be sure to show up,” Glover said.

The event coincides with the school district’s Christmas break and will be open to the public. The gingerbread supplies are limited and will be offered first-come-first-served.

“So they are gingerbread kits so it is going to be simple to put together and for them to… again, just have a good time as a family assembling those.” Glover said. “So the kits will have all the pieces of gingerbread to make the houses. They’re pretty good sized gingerbread houses. And then they’re going to have the icing to be able to connect all the different parts. And it’s going to have the sprinkles and all the different things they can… to make the houses.”

The library does not require people to register for the event and Glover believes the open house is a great opportunity for everyone in the community to gather to have a festive time.
