Zanesville Mayor Celebrates 2023 Achievements

ZANESVILLE, OH – With only a few days remaining in the year, the Mayor of Zanesville highlighted some projects the City completed this year.

Mayor Don Mason said he was very pleased with 2023 in regards to continuing ongoing projects and the start of new projects for 2024.

“The idea is to get more done by having cooperative relationships with county officials, state officials, and the other municipalities across the state,” Mason said. “I have found working together you get a lot more done than working singularly.”

Mason said one of the projects he’s most proud of is the clean up of the former Lear property on Linden Avenue. He said that scientific testing is still being conducted to see what chemicals or contaminants might be at the site.  Another project he was proud of was the 100% outside funding for the Muskingum Ave/Dug Road improvements.

“That project includes the Putnam Hill overlook,” Mason said. “We’re planning on cutting the hillside back and expanding the park by using the debris to smooth out the plateau. It should be even more scenic when the job is done.”

Mayor Mason said the goal for 2024 is to work with local officials on building more housing for the city.
