ZANESVILLE, OH – The Martin Luther King Scholarship Fund is getting ready to host their annual Food Drive.

The MLK Scholarship Fund will be collecting non-perishable donations starting on Monday, January 15Th through the 31st.

Carlotta Workman, a Board Member for the Scholarship Fund, said this food drive to help support those in the community going through food insecurity

“We’re asking those that attend our Prayer Breakfast to donate non-perishable foods.” Workman said. “You can donate your food to Christ’s Table or Eastside Community Ministry. Both of these organizations help to provide meals for those in the community who are less fortunate and don’t always have enough food to eat.”

You can drop your donations off at Christ’s Table on Monday through Thursday from 7 to 3 PM and on Friday from 7 to 2PM.

You can also drop donations off at Eastside Community Ministry on Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to Noon or 1 to 3 PM.

Workman said the MLK Scholarship Fund has existed for 30 years and they have been hosting this food drive for about half of that time.

“As time has gone on, the economy has changed and hasn’t been as productive as it has been in the past.” Workman said. “The need has grown substantially to help support those who aren’t able to supply their own food needs. We feel this is an important part of our mission to help those who are facing food insecurities.”
