ZANESVILLE, Ohio– On The Same Page Muskingum reading initiative begins Monday.

The Muskingum County Library System and Muskingum County History are kicking off a two month long initiative. On The Same Page is a program for folks of all ages. This year’s topic is Exploring Our Underground Railroad Heritage.

“There’s a title for children,” Assistant Director Blair Tom said. “A picture book Henry’s Freedom Box. A tween/teen title Stealing Freedom, adult fiction the Last Runaway, and adult non fiction Ulysses Underground. And the Author of Ulysses Underground will be visiting for two presentations for Muskingum County History.”

Tom said the books are available at the six libraries in the county. Muskingum County History will provide a series of ongoing programs through September. John McIntire Library will be having a book discussion in September. Tom also said reading is fundamental and when a community is reading about the same topic, that’s when we can have meaningful conversations.

“And that conversation can be about how that impacts me as an individual, how that impacts my family, and then how that impacts us as a community. And where we are and where we want to be,” Tom said.

Tom said each of the libraries have a limited amount of books. People are welcome to come and pick up a book at any of the six county libraries, while supplies last.
