Local businesses prepare for back to school shopping

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Kids may not want to hear it, but the start of the school season is just around the corner and that means back to school shopping.
Johnie Ruggerio, the general manager of the Staples on Maple Avenue, said that this is their busiest time of the year and that they carry everything a parent needs for back to school shopping.
“We are rip-roaring and ready to go. We have everything under the sun,†said Ruggerio. “We have some great prices. We have 110 percent match guarantee. If you’re going to get it cheaper somewhere else then you’re going to get it cheaper here plus another 10 percent off.â€
The tax sales holiday is also coming up. From Aug. 5 through the 7 there is no sales tax on school supplies. Ruggerio suggests that shoppers don’t wait until the last minute to buy your supplies, but if you do procrastinate, they will still have all the supplies you need.â€
“Well if you do wait we’ll be here. There is usually a big rush once the high schoolers go back because they get another list. So we’re ready for them,†said Ruggerio.
The first day of classes for many area school districts is Aug. 24.
