The 9th Annual Melon Festival Kicks Off Saturday

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Calling all melon lovers.
The Village of Dresden will host its 9th annual melon festival this Saturday. The melon festival will feature live music, crowning of a prince and princess, silent auction, craft and flea market and of course you guessed it… Melons.
“If you haven’t been to the park it’s a great place to listen to music and get some good food and have a cold beverage of your choice,” Village of Dresden Mayor David Mathew said. “A nice family environment and an enjoyable day for family. For the people to see what a wonderful asset that river could be.”
This festival kicks off its action packed day of events with an early morning fishing tournament which takes place at 6 a.m., then a kids race and a 5K, and Dresden Mayor Mathew’s favorite event the melon derby.
“The rules are the axle has to go through melon body and they race them down a slope track. The creativity of some people has been amazing to watch,” Mayor Mathew said.
Not only does this event offer something entertaining for every member of your family, but all proceeds from this event go right back into the Village of Dresden. Admission is $1 until 4 p.m. after 4 the price increases to $2.
