ZANESVILLE, OH – The Imagination Library of Muskingum County received a major donation today.

Through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce as well as a number of United Ways throughout the State; The United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties presented a $10,000 check to the Imagination Library.

Meg Deedrick, Executive Director of the UWMPM, said they’re proud to be able to continue supporting the Imagination Library.

“We’re able to invest now, and again, we were able to provide seed money and are now able to invest in the continued support of Imagination Libraries in all three Counties that we serve.” Deedrick said. “Muskingum County is one of the most robust. They are in the top 4 in children enrollment numbers for the State every month.”

Becky Hill, the Treasurer for the Muskingum County Literacy Council, said it costs around $1.20 per day, or about $26 a year, to send books to the children enrolled in the Imagination Library.

“$10,000 is going to go a long way towards sending books to kids in our County.” Hill said. “This will fund about, almost 3 months worth of books. We send out a little over 3,600 books a month and we just love that 3,600 kids are getting these books every month.”

The Imagination Library is open to children from ages 0 to 5 years-old and they will receive a free age-appropriate book each month until their 5th birthday.
