SOUTH ZANESVILLE, OH – Local food pantries are gearing up to host a free produce market dedicated to supporting low-income households.

In an effort to address food insecurity in area counties, Eastside Community Ministry, in collaboration with the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and First Baptist Church, is set to host a free produce market on January 26th, from 9 to 11 AM. It will be held at the First Baptist Church in South Zanesville and is set to offer an array of fresh fruits and vegetables, serving 200 households.

“This is a huge need in our community. Our pantries stay busy every day serving people. This is nice to have the potato’s, the fresh fruit and vegetables, the things that are a little bit more expensive. We serve everyone, we see a lot of our senior citizens showing up for this as well as families,” Eastside Community Ministry Executive Director Jamie Trout said.

Registration is required for this produce market. Those interested in attending can register by dialing 211 or visiting Freshtrak.com. It is asked that you do bring an ID with you.

“For this particular produce market, you do not have to live in Muskingum County to receive this service. If you are in Perry County or any of our surrounding counties, you’re welcome to come and register for this event as well,” Trout said.
