Penny Ryan

Penny A. Ryan, 77 of Zanesville, died at 6:01 AM, Sunday, February 4, 2024, at The Oaks at Bethesda. She was born Monday, June 3, 1946, in Zanesville, the daughter of Theodore “Teddy” J. Hemmer and Laura Jean (Drumm) Hemmer. She married Joseph “Joe” M. Ryan on Friday, April 17, 1964, and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
Penny was a Mother to 8 beautiful children but she felt like a Mom to a lot more. She would smile with her big beautiful blue eyes and light up any room; making each person feel welcomed, seen & loved. Penny lived for her family and it was her passion and sole purpose to take care of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She made them feel like they were her everything, with each and every song she sang to them. Penny adored all her grandchildren and loved the fact that she was able to care for, see them on a regular basis and leave a lasting impact on their lives like she did her own children. As we continue our journey through life our hearts are forever changed by her compassion, strength, humor and genuine heart. She can now watch her Cleveland Browns and Ohio State games with Papa Joe, Tommy and Amy. We will be forever grateful for and cherish the impact that our Mom and Nana made in all of our lives.
Penny is survived by six children, Tim (Wendy) Ryan, and grandson, Michael (Monica) Ryan, Ted (Charlotte) Ryan, Tammy Ryan, Kathy (Tom Bash) Miracle, Joey Ryan II, Mindy (Jerry) Lundell; grandchildren, Darby (Trey) MacLaughlin, Tanner Ryan, Kristina (Aaron) Levinson, Emilie (Michael) Smith, Dillon Ryan, Laney Willey, Ashley Ryan, Ashton Young, Kia Ryan, Ryan Dickinson, Amanda Farley, Landon Farley, Kinzie (Landon) Israel, Josie (Connor) Sidwell, Bodee Miracle, Logan Bash, Alivia Bash, Karlee Ryan, Kyler Ryan, Chayce Lundell and Jadyn Lundell; several great grandchildren; one sister, Sandy (Jim) McGee; one brother, Larry Hemmer; one sister-in-law, Vicki Hemmer Hamlin; one son-in-law, Cliff Farley and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
