Gary L. Carpenter, 55, of Dexter City, passed away Wednesday (February 7, 2024) at his home.

He was born March 25, 1968 in Zanesville, son of the late Clarence Carpenter and Carolyn (King) Carpenter.

A 1986 graduate of Meadowbrook High School, Gary retired from BP. He was the operations manager of the Quaker City BP station for thirty-five years.

He enjoyed baking and was well-known for his excellent peanut butter fudge. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and collecting M&M’s and snowmen memorabilia. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and his dogs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his special dog, a Shih Tzu named Max.

Gary is survived by his longtime partner, Gary Harper; a son, Zac Carpenter (& Rebecca Abbott) of Parkersburg WV; a daughter, Kara (& Bill) Cramblett of Byesville; his fur babies, Jade, Jazz, and Jax; two brothers, Larry (& Shannon) Carpenter of Cumberland and Jerry (& Jessie) Carpenter of Cumberland; a sister, Brenda (& John) Reese of Byesville and their children, Tiffany and Joel; and a granddaughter, Sophia Cramblett.

Visitation will be held Monday (February 12, 2024) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.
