New Concord man critically injured in crash

NEW CONCORD, Ohio—  The State Highway Patrol reported Monday that a New Concord man is in critical condition following a weekend crash.

According to Zanesville Post Sgt. Jeff Jirles, 20-year old Charles Sears was seriously injured following a crash on State Route 83 Saturday night.

Sgt. Jirles said Sears was southbound on SR 83 at just before 10 pm when he drove left of center striking a northbound vehicle.

Authorities said the second vehicle was operated by 69-year old Helen Soller also of New Concord.

Both Soller and a passenger 66-year old John Winterringer were injured and taken to Genesis Hospital.

Sears remains in critical condition at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

The crash remains under investigation.
