2024 SkillsUSA Regional Competiton

ZANESVILLE, OH- SkillsUSA hosted their 2024 Southeast Regional Competition today at Mid-East Career and Technology Center.

SkillsUSA is a career and technical student organization that empowers students to become skilled professionals and leaders.

“We have hosted the SkillsUSA Southeast Regional Competitions, we’ve had about 20 contests that have been here, a couple were earlier in Columbus, and then we had a couple at our Buffalo campus two weeks ago,” said Mike Hawley, the Assistant Director of SkillsUSA Ohio Southeast.

Some of the standards that students competed in include Advertising Design, Cosmetology, First Aid, Criminal Justice, Carpentry, Automotive Refinishing, Medical Math and Welding.

“I think seeing the students just blossom from first coming here and by the time they graduate they just really grow as a human being and enjoy the opportunities that they have,” said Hawley.

Students who placed in the top three of their standards will go on to compete at the state championships in Columbus on April 9 and 10.
