ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Library System has a series of programs coming to help get you ready for the upcoming eclipse.

Some of the upcoming programs are Learn About the Solar Eclipse, Learn About the Solar Eclipse Kid’s Edition, Eclipse Stories Around the World, and Solar Eclipse Chalk Art.

Sean Fennell, the Marketing and Community Relations Director with the MCLS, said while Zanesville won’t be in the totality of the Eclipse, these are still important events so you can view the solar phenomenon safely.

“We’re still getting a lot of the eclipse here for sure.” Fennell said. “So we have a series of programs coming up for our community to not only learn about the safety for the eclipse, which is a very big deal. Don’t look at the sun without your special eclipse glasses, you need them for sure if you’re going to be looking at the eclipse at any time here in our area.”

Fennell said you can receive a pair of eclipse viewing glasses for your household by attending any of the Eclipse programs.

He also talked more in detail about a few of the eclipse programs they’re offering.

“We have Irene Baron, she is doing two really wonderful programs for us, about educating people on the eclipse.” Fennel said. “One is more geared towards teens and adults and the other one is for kids. The kids’ one is on a Saturday so for all those working parents out there, we wanted to make sure that you had the opportunity to bring your family in and learn about the eclipse from an ambassador.”

To register for any of the upcoming eclipse events you can head to the Muskingum County Library System’s website.
