ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Commissioners are inviting the public to a meeting to discuss the adoption of a zoning code in the County’s Northwest Townships.

This meeting comes from the feedback from the three initial meetings that were held in January.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 27th at the Zane State Campus Center from 6 to 8PM.

Andy Roberts, Executive Director of the Muskingum County Planning Commission, said this meeting will cover information from the prior meetings, survey results, as well as additional information.

“Our whole goal here is to educate the community on what the possibility of this is and to see if it’s something they want.” Roberts said. “Ultimately, it’s going to have to go to the voters regardless of what goes on and we’re just trying to give them the most information that we can.”

Roberts said the primary focus of the previous meeting has been on shaping the zoning laws in townships such as Jackson, Cass, Jefferson, Licking, Muskingum, Hopewell, and Falls.

He also said he hopes those who attend the meeting understand that development will be happening in our area.

“Understand that development is going to be coming, regardless of what we do or don’t do here.” Roberts said. “We’re basically trying to get a little bit of a hand on it.”
