Tecumseh Theater’s Renovation Celebration

SHAWNEE, OH – In the heart of Shawnee Ohio, the Tecumseh Theater experienced a day of celebration on March 28th.

The community came together to honor the groundbreaking of a new elevator column along with significant renovation milestones of the theater. This event highlighted the efforts of those who are dedicated in the revitalization and preservation of the building and its storied past.

“We’re celebrating the last phase of construction for the Tecumseh Theater here in Shawnee, Ohio. This is a project that we’re able to fund through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. We have a special program that is just for economic revitalization of old coal mining areas. So. this is a place we’re able to invest in for this great project that we hope will be great for the community,” Director of ODNR Mary Mertz said.

With its doors wide open, the Tecumseh Theater is ready to welcome a new era of audiences, performers, and stories.

“I think they’re going to continue with some kids programming and be able to use the whole thing. Emerging artists will be able to perform in the theater space, and public programs, rentals, if people want to come and rent the entire theater, I think that’s going to be a possibility. We think it’ll bring people here. It’ll help not just the theater itself, but also the whole area. The stores and the restaurants and all the things that could use a boost in this town,” Mertz said.

The Tecumseh Theater is located at 114 West Main Street, Shawnee. To learn more, visit the website below.
