Meet Jaxx! This Week’s Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Pet of the Week brings a smile to everyone’s face when he walks in.

Meet Jaxx! He is a 1-year-old corgi mix, who is up to date on his vaccines, neutered, and ready to find his forever home.

April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, said Jaxx also does well riding in the car and talked about an adventure he went on.

“He just visited an assisted living facility today and he loves that., Gibson said. “He’s good with kids, he just doesn’t seem to have any issues. He’s just a good little dog.”

Gibson also said the Animal Shelter Society recently applied for a grant from the J.W. & M.H Straker Charitable Foundation and was happy to announce they had received the funding they needed.

“We had applied for a grant again from the Straker Foundation, that’s why we were able to open our doors for the new kennel doors. But we still had a need for revitalization on that floor,” Gibson said. “We need to replace some tiles and repaint but the biggest need that we had going on is a full facility generator. Anytime, on an average day, we carry $20,000 to $25,000 worth of vaccines in this building.”

Gibson said they are also gearing up for their inaugural Pickleball Tournament. The Pickleball for Paws Tournament will be on Saturday May 4th at Riverside Park and the entry fee is $100 per team.
