Featured Gallery: Yan Sun Art Museum
Yan Sun wishes to be the bridge between his American Hometown of Zanesville and his Birthplace of Lanzhou, China, through artwork.
Sun detailed the similar history between the two cities, both in landscape and culture. While Lanzhou’s nearly 6,000 year history in the creation of Chinese ceramics is slightly longer than that of Zanesvilles pottery connections. Both cities take deep pride and inspiration from our waterways and unique bridges.
"Two bridges, across the river. One is the Yellow River in my home town, and one is the Muskingum River in my hometown of ohio" detailed Sun.
The exhibit "Brilliant Gansu" is allowing Yan Sun to create a deeper cultural connection between the two cities by bringing the work of 9 different artists from the Province of Gansu to the City of Zanesville. The visiting exhibit will open at the Yan Sun Art Museum, at 604 Main St., on Friday from 5:00p.m. to 8:30p.m. during Septembers Fist Friday Art Walk, it will run for the remainder of the month.
"We are so glad, that the local artists, they are very happy to welcome Chinese artist."
The pieces in the show range from traditional Chinese paintings to abstract and contemporary forms of Chinese artwork.
