ZAAP Artist of The Month: Erin France

Every month, ZAAP in Downtown Zanesville features an artist of the month.

This month, WHIZ’s very own radio sales employee Erin France’s art is on display. France says she has been involved with ZAAP for 2 years now, and has loved art since she was a child. As far as inspiration, she is creates things through the objects around her.

"I love found objects. I love vintage things. I love broken things because I feel like, so much of our society today is so throw away. So I try to take things that somebody would throw away and re-purpose them and give it a new life. "

France says that sometimes she will collect items for her art for years at a time before actually creating a piece out of them. She considers herself a mixed media artist, but has recently started working with a new medium.

"I am mostly known for my mixed media art, but I’ve done some upcycled clothing for this show and this is the first time I’ve dabbled in upcycled clothing. "

You will have the chance to see her work tomorrow at the art walk from 5PM to 8PM. Some of France’s work will be for sale. If you like her style of work, you can give her material and she will make you your own custom piece.
