Big Brothers Big Sisters Buckeye Pep Rally
Big Brothers Big Sisters will be having its 14th Annual Buckeye Pep Rally and Auction on November 21st.
Attendees of the event can reserve tables, participate in a live and silent auction, 10-k Giveaway and will have a chance to win Ohio State vs. Michigan football tickets. Mollie Crooks, the Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, says that this is the second largest fundraising event that supports their mentoring programs. The organization has two programs, a community based traditional program and a newer school based program.
"The school based program is ramping up right now" said Crooks, "It’s a newer program. We’re recruiting high school students, college students and adults to match one on one with children at a particular elementary school."
Crooks says that the programs are designed to help build children’s self esteem, motivate them in school and hopefully steer children in the direction of furthering their education by either college or career readiness programs.
"If people are interested in that program it takes about one hour a week, and it sure does make a difference in the life of a child."
The Buckeye Pep Rally will be held at the Veteran’s Complex at the Muskingum County Fair Grounds from 6:00p.m. to 11:00p.m. For more information about the event or to volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters call (74)453-7300 or go to www.bbbs.org/zanesville .
