Lean Ohio Boot Camp

A group known as Lean Ohio Boot Camp met with County Commissioners Thursday afternoon.

The meeting was held to let commissioners know about an opportunity that is available to County Department and Agency employees to learn about process improvement training as well as grant funding. Brad Hollingsworth, Assistant Director for Innovation and Data Services told us what Lean Ohio is about.

"Lean Ohio is a section within the department of administrative services at the state of Ohio and they have developed the curriculum for this process improvement training which is for local government employees…..the funding for this is really predicated on their success at the state level and a lot of the state leaders saw the benefit of rolling this out to local government."

Hollingsworth feels that there are many benefits to taking part in the Lean Ohio Boot Camp. He shared one with us today.

"This really gives people the opportunity to develop the skills and have resources to make process improvements. A good example would be the City of Fort Wayne Indiana. At one point it took over 48 hours to respond to a complaint of a pothole…they went back and reevaluated the steps in the process all the handoffs. Everything that went on behind the scenes. They redesigned that process and by doing that they can now respond to a pothole complaint and fix it within four hours."

If your department or agency would like to take part in this training, you can register at the website: www.mvesc.org
