New Senior Housing Facility in Muskingum County
There is a new senior housing development in the works.
Valley View Place looks to help provide an aging population with affordable senior housing. Michael Hood of the Muskingum County Community Action Committee met with the county commissioners this afternoon to give an update on the project.
The commissioners gave Hood a letter of support, earlier this year, to help get the grants and loans necessary to build the complex. Commissioner Jerry Lavy said it is a necessary project.
"It’s a good project," Lavy said. "There’s a need for affordable senior housing in Muskingum County, and this is an opportunity that came along for them to apply for the grants and the loans for them to build these complexes to help our seniors."
Valley View Place will provide housing to seniors 55 and older who have a low income. Lavy said that it is important the commissioners show support for projects like this one.
"That’s important that we take part and help whenever we can on their projects coming up in the future for their housing programs that they feel that the need is there that it’s important that we follow through with them," Lavy said.
The Community Action Committee is looking to have the units leased by Spring of 2016.
