Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

The American Cancer Society is hoping we can finish the fight against breast cancer.

WHIZ Media Group is a proud sponsor of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k Fundraising Walk. The event will be held at the Ohio University Zanesville/Zane State campus on October 18th. Terri Kangas, community events specialist for the American Cancer Society says that registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and the walk will start at 10:00 a.m.

"There is no registration fee. We encourage fundraising and donation by our participants and walkers."

People are encouraged to register as individuals or as a group. Kangas says that this will be a family friendly event and entertainment and activities will be available for everyone who attends as well as a Pink Shop. Kangas also says that this event is extremely important in the fight against breast cancer.

"This event is just a big event that brings awareness to the community about breast cancer, we encourage everyone to get their mammograms yearly and bring awareness that this disease is here and 1 in every 3 women are going to be diagnosed with breast cancer."

The Zanesville Chipotle is also helping in the fight against breast cancer, if you stop by Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., half of all proceeds will be donated to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
