Rambo Memorial Health Center Levy Renewal

The November election is just shy of a month away, and one of the issues seen on the ballot involves Rambo Memorial Health Center.

The 5 year levy renewal will pay for a variety of services offered by Rambo. Crystal Bebout, Executive Director of Rambo Health Center told us a little bit more about it.

"It’s four cents on every $100,000. That’s what the millage is. So it averages out to be about $14 a house that’s $100,000 and that’s the average cost of a house in Zanesville. If you don’t live in the home and you own more than one home, in other words, the tax is only on your owner occupied home and if you have a homestead or other rollbacks then the price would be less than that. So it averages out to about a dollar a month."

Some of the services offered by Rambo are TB and respiratory clinics and as well as flu shots, which are now available to the public. Bebout says the renewal is important to continue offering their affordable health services.

"The population we serve are people that are the working poor. Many people are supposed to have insurance now through Obamacare but even if they have insurance the deductibles are still really high, so if you have a $5,000 deductible, and you need lab work done or need a chest X-ray, need to get your blood pressure checked, its kind of expensive for you to do that through regular medical help so you can come here and get that done."

The levy renewal will appear on the ballot in the upcoming, November 4th election.
