Campaign 2014: U.S. House of Representatives Ohio’s 6th District
Today we bring you the race for United States Representative for Ohio’s 6th District.
At the candidates forum in Zanesville Sunday both challengers to congressman Bill Johnson (R) spoke. Johnson, however, had a representative speak on his behalf. Sarah Poulton read a letter in which Johnson outlined what he will do if re-elected.
"I’m using my experience as a businessman to work towards reigning in government spending, fighting against over regulation and reducing the tax burden on all Americans," Poulton said on Johnson’s behalf. "We simply cannot continue to spend at our current pace."
While Poulton spoke on Johnson’s accomplishments working in Congress Johnson’s two opponents, Jennifer Garrison (D) and Dennis Lambert (G) outlined their plans for office. Garrison talked about how she worked with energy companies and the people to achieve results.
"I’m proud to stand on my record for the last four years," Garrison said. "I love this community, I’m going to work hard for this community, and I’m going to work across party lines."
Working across party lines is something that Lambert believes only an independent candidate like himself can bring to office. And he believes that he can help Americans win.
"When we’re talking about winners or losers we always here on the news well the democrats scored a major victory today or the Republicans create a sound defeat for the Democrats today," Lambert asked. "When are the American people going to win?"
Tomorrow we will bring you the fifth and final installment of our candidate spotlight with the race for Ohio Attorney General.
