Secretary of State Jon Husted Visits Muskingum County Board of Elections
Secretary of State Jon Husted was at the Muskingum County Board of Elections Monday afternoon.
Husted was touring southeast Ohio, making stops in Fairfield, Muskingum and Licking counties to make sure everything is running smoothly just two weeks into the election process.
"Voting has been going on in Ohio for a couple of weeks now, we only have a couple of weeks left we’re trying to encourage people to get out there, cast their ballots early. Which you can, there is still plenty of time to request and absentee ballot, if you want to vote by mail you can come down to the Board of Elections and vote in person or you certainly can wait till election day" said Husted.
According to Husted this is an important election year with all the state wide candidates, two supreme court justices and a host of local election candidates and issues on the ballots.
"I’m going to share one little stat with you. If you don’t think that every vote matters, in 2013 in the general election we had 43 races across Ohio that were either decided by one vote or tied."
Husted said that they are trying to make voting in Ohio as easy as possible and he encourages people to come out and vote in person or stay home and send in their absentee ballots.
Jon Husted is on the Ohio ballot this fall, facing Democrat Nina turner in his bid for re-election.
