Snoopy Shines as Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – Snoopy, an adorable three-year-old chihuahua, has been named the Animal Shelter Society’s Pet of the Week.

Unlike the comic strip Beagle who’s always on top of his doghouse, our Snoopy prefers a cozy, loving lap to lay on. He is extremely gentle and a bit shy, but very affectionate once he warms up to new friends. Snoopy would make a peaceful companion in any home looking to add a furry friend.

“He is a little bit timid. We would be looking for a quieter home for him. No small children but you can have teenagers. You have to go a little bit slow with him. He really wasn’t socialized that well. It’s going to take a little bit of patience. He doesn’t mind his baths or car rides, or his nails being clipped, and you can touch his paws. So, that makes it nice,” Animal Shelter Society Executive Director April Gibson said.

This Saturday, May 4th is the “Pickleball 4 Paws” fundraising event. It will take place at Riverside Park from 8 AM to 2 PM, and will support the Animal Shelter Society, helping to provide care and find homes for animals in need like Snoopy. In case of rain, the event will be held at the local YMCA.

“We’re very excited about it. The check in is 7:30 whether we’re down at Riverside or at the Y, and then the tournaments start at 8. We’re really excited about it. They’ve done an amazing job and the sponsorships they’ve brought in is phenomenal. We’re looking forward to it. Just remember that that saves a total of 504 paws,” said Gibson.
