Power Restored After Transformer Fire

A transformer caught fire at a sub station in the 2,200 block of Hughes Street Tuesday afternoon.

It happened happened around 4:45PM. According to AEP Ohio, the fire was due to a fuse failure. The outage involved the east end of Zanesville Maysville, Downard Road and a portion of Brighton Boulevard. 3,900 people were without power until it was fully restored around 8PM this evening. Unfortunately, we also lost power here at WHIZ, and we thank you for your patience as we worked to restore our signal.
