Second Case of Male Suspect Impersonating A Deputy
It’s happened again. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says there has been a second case of someone impersonating a deputy.
Within the last week there have been two different cases in which an unmarked vehicle has stopped two different women. The first case took place last Friday night around 10:15 p.m. when a young women was stopped by a male on valley road off of state route 93 just south of Adamsville. The most recent case happened this past Tuesday night around 10:30 near state route 93 south in Avondale. Sheriff Matt Lutz says both cases share similar suspicions
"As she looked in the rear view mirror she saw a vehicle behind her that had activated a red and blue type light. She did describe it kind of the same way, that it was down in the dash at it wasn’t as wide as what our cruiser light bars are on top of the roof. She could tell the car appeared to be an unmarked car, it was a bigger car, still fits the same description as possibly one of the old Crown Victoria Cruisers."
The suspect is said to be wearing black pants and a black long sleeved shirt with a faded sheriff’s badge.
"Obviously i don’t want people out there running from our officers or the Zanesville Police Department or state highway patrol but if they see an unmarked car that has lights in the dash, we want them to not stop if they feel nervous about that and obviously want them to call 9-1-1 immediately."
If you have any information on the suspect contact the Muskingum County sheriff’s office.
