Inmate Dies at Licking Co. Justice Center

Licking Co- An inmate at the Licking County Justice Center passed away Monday morning.

Officials with the Licking County Sheriff’s Department announced that 39-year-old Luis Figueroa, of London, Ohio was found unresponsive in his solely occupied cell just before 1:55am.

Officers immediately performed life-saving measures. Newark Fire Department responded and pronounced Figueroa deceased at 2:04am.

Authorities said preliminary indications are suicide and there were no signs of foul play.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
