30th Annual Toys for Tots Auction

The community gathered to support the less fortunate in our community Saturday evening.

The 30th annual Toys for Tots auction was held at St. Rose church Saturday evening. Those who attended had the chance to bid on a wide variety of items and enjoy a meal together. Polly Pletcher, Secretary of the club told us a little bit more about what the money funds.

"Toys for Tots is money that we make in this area from Perry County for needy children and families. We also do high school scholarships. We do Easter Egg hunt here in Perry county. We sponsor families that say they have a fire or whatever–we sponsor those. It’s to help poor families all the way around."

250 to 300 people attended. They hoped to raise $65,000. Pletcher told us she believes these kinds of events are important to the community.

"It’s just very neat that especially during these times, where people are down and out. It’s just a need and we feel good about it. We work hard all year round."
