First Sgt.Jack F. Williams (my Father) fought in WWII in Guam,Leyte,Yakabi Shima, le Shima and Okinawa. during five operations in three campaigns, Jack survived, 200 days of fighting the Japanese. Another 180 days were lived on land or hostile enemy, were occasionally encountered. At least 70 of the days at sea were days where the danger from Japanese submarines or aircraft, was constant. When he arrived back home, Jack was only 25 years. He was awarded the Silver Star Medal.He had risen from the lowest rank to become the highest enlisted man in his company, in only 28 months. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for “meritor service in connection with military operations against the enemy on Leyte,from Dec.16 to Dec.22, 1944. He served in the 77th division of the 207th infantry.
