Phillips Meats Celebrates 50 Years in Business

ZANESVILLE, OH – In 1974, is a historic year for many reasons. President Nixon resign from office, the hit TV show Happy Days first aired, and in Zanesville the family owned meat processor Phillips Meats opened its doors.
Phillips Meats celebrated 50 years of business where it has stayed family owned and locally oriented. Complete with free samples, tours of their main facility, and a deal where they sold sausage for the same price it went for back in 1974. The parents of the current owner, Dale Phillips, started the company and shared his thoughts on this momentous milestone.
“Four generations. It’s my life. It does me so proud that my parents are gone now but I have second and third generations coming up behind me. It means everything to me,” Phillips said.
His parents started the business in 1974 in a two room facility where they only did two or three head a beef a week. In 1998 he built a new facility which is the main location of the business, built three more expansions all with a close relationship to local farmers and a supportive community..
“They grow with us as we move along. It means everything. You know, and the people coming out today, it’s just an amazing day today. People coming out support us, see what we got going on and I love it,” Phillips said.
Phillips Meats is located on Ridge Avenue with more information available on their website.
