Meet Rosie! This Week’s Pet of the Week
ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week is small but mighty.
Meet Rosie! She is a 6-month-old Pomsky mix who is up to date on her vaccines, spayed, and ready to go to her forever home.
April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, said Rosie is very active and has quite the personality for such a small dog.
“She’s a very beautiful dog and she can actually be a little bit of a spitfire, a little bit short and mighty,” Gibson said. “She is a little bit dog selective, she really doesn’t know what she likes or dislikes. We’re just going to have to see how that goes.”
Gibson said with the hotter summer days quickly approaching, dogs with thicker coats, like Rosie, need extra attention.
She says limiting your dogs time outside, making sure they have fresh, cool water to drink, and that they aren’t walking on hot pavement for long periods of time will ensure a happy pup this summer.
“Keep them out of metal bowls, those metal bowls do heat up, and they can burn their tongues or their snouts and things like that,” Gibson said. “Make sure they have shade, you know if you do have to keep them outside. Keep them out of cars, unless you have to travel for any reason, keep them cool.”
Gibson is also happy to report that the first ever “Music for Mutts” was a giant success. She said over 100 people came to the Shelter’s parking lot to enjoy food, music, and friendship, all while supporting a great cause.
