94-Year-Old Veteran Honored by Genesis Hospice Care

On Veterans Day, Tuesday, people around the country were taking time to thank those who have served our country. Genesis Hospice Care did the same as part of their "We Honor Vets" program.

The Christian Women’s Group met for their monthly meeting Tuesday, November 11th, at Eaglesticks where they were joined by special guests from Genesis Hospice Care who honored 5 of their female veterans.

Becky Joseph, an RN at Genesis Hospice Care, and guest speaker at the event stated, "I have been attending the Christian Women’s Organization for a couple of months listening to the speakers, and thought it would be an awesome opportunity for us to honor all the women that have served, who are part of this Christian organization. So we offered to be a special feature and to honor their veterans. So today we are honoring five women, one of whom is 94-years-old and she was in word war two. "

That spectacular woman is Gaye Rhodes, who was a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Nurse Corp. We asked Rhodes how it feels to be so appreciated, and her answer was that of an extremely selfless women.

"Oh, it feels so wonderful, but I just wish I could be back taking care of them, " Rhodes said. It’s clear that she took great pride in her time with the army.

Along with Rhodes other honorees were Rose Kopechi, Lois Havens, Elizabeth Herrell. And Cassie Cappel. We thank all of these remarkable women for their service.
