Three Local Men Inducted Into Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame

Three local men were inducted the Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame Tuesday evening.

The community gathered at the Muskingum County Welcome Center to celebrate newly inducted Elden Hudson, Delmer Dunlap, Frederic Grant and their service to our country. We had the privilege to speak to each of them, who shared their feelings on receiving the awards.
Eldon Hudson told us,

"I tell ya, it’s just overwhelming. You appreciate it very much, but its still overwhelming and I cant thanks these folks from the veterans group to put something on like this each year for the veterans. There are so many veterans out there that deserve to be recognized more than we did. So I just say thank you to all of them. I think thanks is the only word I know how to say anymore."

Delmer Dunlap said,

"Oh it’s very humbling and very much of an honor to be in the same Hall of Fame with all the other veterans that have preceded me for this award. It’s definitely a great honor and a big surprise. When I think of World War II veterans and what they went through, it’s a great honor to even be classified. When i think of veterans that’s who I think of is people that have served during combat."

Frederic Grant explained,

"Oh I’m highly honored. Yes, I didn’t expect it and didn’t know much about it…lot of gratitude for it."

The celebration included songs by the Y-City Barbershop and the Andrews Singers. The ceremony concluded at about 9PM and was followed by refreshments.
