The Salvation Army Needs Your Donations Now More Than Ever
It’s that time of year again. The Salvation Army is beginning to pull out those familiar red kettles, and this year they need your help more than ever.
Because of over giving The Salvation Army is $162,000 in debt this year. While that number is astronomical, they’ve got a plan to get out of the red and back into the green.
Dustin Redmond, a Salvation Army Employee stated,"This year we have a source, that any kettle money we make will be matched dollar for dollar, so part of that will go towards our debt. "
Not all of the funds collected in the red kettles will go to managing The Salvation Army’s debt, they want you to be assured that your money is still a vital part of helping those in need.
"The money from the kettles goes to support our programs all year long, so it helps feed someone when they come into our building and their hungry and needing food. It helps clothe someone when they come in needing clothing, it helps shelter someone when they come in and have no place to go," said The Salvation Army’s office coordinator Mindy McCloy.
This Saturday, November 15th, at Colony Square from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. you can attend the red kettle kick off event. At this time you’ll be able to begin donating, and remember what you donate to these red kettles will be matched dollar for dollar.
