Fire Chief Injured in Accident

Newark’s Fire and EMS Chief and his wife suffer potentially serious injures after striking a deer while riding their motorcycle.
Newark Police reported Chief Patrick Connor and his wife were riding their motorcycle in the 10000 block of Eden Church Road Northeast around 7:30 pm on Saturday when the accident occurred.
Chief Connor was transported by medical helicopter to Ohio State University Hospital and his wife was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital.
The severity of their injuries is unknown at this time.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Chief Connor has been the Newark Division of Fire and EMS Chief for nearly two years. He has over 25 years of service with the Division of Fire and EMS.
